Markus Tkotz
Markus Tkotz studied economics at the University of Augsburg and at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he graduated with a Master's degree in Economics. He began his career in 1993 in the consumer goods industry at Procter & Gamble in the areas of Customer Business Development and Supply Chain.
In 1998, he moved to Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he worked as a Senior Project Manager in the consumer goods and retail sectors, managing a large number of international projects on the retail and manufacturer side.
Markus Tkotz has held various management positions at the Markant Group since 2002. In 2011, he was appointed a member of the Management Board of Markant AG. Since 2022, Markus Tkotz has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Markant AG.

Dominik Scheid
Dominik Scheid holds a degree in business administration (BA/ASW) and began his professional career in 1992 as a student trainee at Globus SB-Warenhaus Holding. Over a period of 28 years, he held a number of responsible positions in various areas of the company.
After graduating from the Akademie der Saarwirtschaft in Saarbrücken in 1995, he initially worked as a trainee and assistant in the food purchasing department from 1995 to 1998. This was followed by positions as product group manager in purchasing from 1999 to 2004, as managing director of various hypermarkets from 2005 to 2010, as head of product range management and purchasing from 2011 to 2014 and finally as a member of the management board of the German hypermarket company SB Warenhaus GmbH from 2015.
Dominik Scheid has been working for the Markant Group since 2020. He initially took over the management of the international agency business before being appointed to the Management Board of Markant AG in March 2022.

Franz-Friedrich Müller
Franz-Friedrich Müller completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman at the Kaufhof department store in Trier from 1967 to 1969. He began his professional career there in 1970 as a salesman before working as a department manager at Kaufhof in Remscheid, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart in 1971.
From 1972 to 1980, Franz-Friedrich Müller worked as a central buyer at Quelle Fürth. Franz-Friedrich Müller has been working for the Markant Group since 1980. He started as a central buyer at SELEX Handelsgesellschaft mbH, a predecessor of today's Markant Group. In 1991, he was promoted to Head of Division and authorised signatory. In 1996, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director in the Food division. In 2000, he took over the position of Managing Director of Markant Handels und Service GmbH (now Markant Services International GmbH) before being appointed to the Management Board of Markant AG in 2011. Franz-Friedrich Müller has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Markant AG since 2019.

Hans Rudolf Hufschmid
Hans Rudolf Hufschmid completed a Master's degree in Economics at the University of Basel and the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD in Paris.
In his professional career, Hans Rudolf Hufschmid has acquired extensive expertise in the banking and financial sector as well as in asset management. From 1980 to 2002, he held various management positions at Bank Sarasin & Co. and was Head of Institutional Investors. He became a personally liable partner of the bank in 1998 and was a member of the Board of Directors from 2002 to 2013. From 2002 onwards, he focused on his activities on the boards of directors of various companies from different sectors of the economy and on consultancy functions. He also took on various mandates in cultural and charitable organisations.
Hans Rudolf Hufschmid has been Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Markant AG since 2019.

Dr Maja Bauer-Balmelli
Dr Maja Bauer-Balmelli holds a doctorate in law and is a qualified tax expert.
During her forty-year career as a tax lawyer and jurist, she has worked as a consultant, lecturer, judge and academic publisher. Before joining Tax Advisors & Associates Switzerland AG as a partner in 2014, she worked for many years as a partner and member of management at a large Zurich commercial law firm and at the global fiduciary and consulting firm Arthur Anderson as a tax consultant and later as a partner.
Today, Dr Maja Bauer-Balmelli is a member of the board of directors of various companies in different sectors, a trustee of a pension foundation and a member of the board of the Zurich Museum Society. Dr Maja Bauer-Balmelli has been a member of the Board of Directors of Markant AG since 2018.

Dr Philipp Dobler
Dr Philipp Dobler studied law at the University of Fribourg (CH). He graduated magna cum laude from university in 1995 with a doctorate on the subject of «The right to democratic disobedience, resistance in a democratic society – based on the fundamental principles of critical rationalism».
He was subsequently admitted to the Bar of the Canton of Schwyz in 1996. Since then, he has worked as a lawyer and notary public – today in the legal fields of corporate law (primarily energy, trade and banking), inheritance law and public construction law. Dr Philipp Dobler built up Dobler Rechtsanwälte AG and other companies, including KMU Recovery Genossenschaft (restructuring company), Fiberstream87 AG (fibre optic service provider), Prix Santé AG (operator of nursing homes) and firm-it solutions gmbh (online notarisation).
Dr Philipp Dobler is currently active on various boards of directors and foundation boards, including acrevis Bank AG (as a member of the Board of Directors) and EW Lachen AG (as Chairman of the Board of Directors). Dr Philipp Dobler has been a member of the Board of Directors of Markant AG since 2007.

Prof Dr Reto Emanuel Föllmi
Reto Föllmi received his doctorate in economics from the University of Zurich in 2003 and was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Economics at MIT from 2004 to 2005. Between 2000 and 2007, he worked as a (senior) assistant and lecturer at the Institute for Empirical Economic Research at the University of Zurich.
Reto Föllmi is Professor of International Economics and Director of the SIAW-HSG at the University of St. Gallen. He currently serves as Vice-Chancellor for Institutes and Continuing Education, after several years as Dean of the School of Economics and Political Science. His research focuses on macroeconomics, economic growth, international trade and income distribution. He is present in the public media and has published several books and articles in leading scientific publishers and journals.
Reto Föllmi was Professor of Macroeconomics at the University of Bern from 2007 to 2011. Among other things, he is a member of the Macroeconomics and Foreign Trade Committees of the Association for Social Policy, a Fellow of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR, London) and Chairman of the Programme Committee of Avenir Suisse. He also chairs the boards of directors of the family-owned companies and is a member of the Board of Directors of Schwyzer Kantonalbank.
Reto Föllmi has been a member of the Board of Directors of Markant AG since 2017.
